An introduction to phone photography.

Last week I held a visual storytelling workshop at the Goethe Institute in Yaounde.

This is part of the ongoing collaboration of the Goethe Institute and the CCMC as a kick off of the Yaounde fashion week 2020, which will be held next week!

The workshop was all based on taking better pictures with the camera that is always on you: your phone. The workshop was very much hands-on. We started with some photography principles and everyone was eagerly listening- I had everyone introduce themselves by showing a pic on their phone that particularly was speaking to them - which was awesome as every picture already revealed a story.

The participants came from many different professional backgrounds , we had journalists, videographers, artists and entrepreneurs.

The students went then out to practice some of the principles learned around the facilities of the Institute.

Later on the students shared their photos in small groups- it was a big learning experience!

We then created some short digital video stories based on the student’s photos, about an idea, a passion or projects, and the outcome was pretty amazing, specially. given the fact that we only spend a day together working on this!!
